After wedging 15 pounds of stoneware clay, the cone is placed directly in the middle of the wheelhead. Slow even pats secure the clay to the wheel.
At full speed, the clay is sealed to the wheel with a wet sponge.
Wheel wedging is done until the clay is perfectly centered.

Smoothing out the throwing lines with a wooden rib.
Voila... rounding off the perfect lip. The pot will dry for about a day until it is leather hard. trimmed, then allowed to dry to the greenware stage. It is then bisque fired, glazed, glazed fired, then ready for use.
